Shop Till You Drop

La Zenia Boulevard

Based on an American design of an open door shopping centre, it's located further up the coast, about a 20 minute drive bfrom Los Alcázares depending on the route you take.

Ample parking, coastal views and very established, it has a high foot flow and offers a mix between both national and international brands with a few independent boutiques thrown into the mix.

Personally I think that this is somewhat of a unique shopping experience for this part of the coast offering the makings of an excellent day/ night out rather than just a pit stop.

Most people don't know that there are very large superstores dotted around the perimeter of this huge centre such as Dacathalon, Pet superstores and much more so make sure you check the official website for more information.

If you need to venture outside the main catchment of the shopping centre, it's best to drive since they all have independent car parking facilities. Here are a few photos from a recent visit:

Close Enough But Far Enough

Features which are noteworthy are the stage area and water features. From time to time, more frequently during high season there are concerts from well known Spanish artisits. Unfortunatly you will need to check what's on before your trip to avoid dissapointment. Large screens make viewing from the food hall very easy so it's a complement rather than a hindrence.

La zenia is a beautiful area if you like the fusion of a vibrant economy mixed with views of the Medditeranean and always something to do. I think so many find this neck of the woods (LA) attractive because it's close enough to facilities when you want them but far enough to enjoy peace and quiet with a permanent holiday feel.

I saw this video as it made the rounds online last year. A shark was filmed in the Port of Cartagena. There is no need to worry, it's extremely rare.

Los Alcázares Schools

Is The Grass Greener On The Other Side ? Now here is a topic that is often discussed both by the local community and those that are intending to move to the area. Schooling generally is of a high standard but some parents would agree that it's not the school, it's the student when it comes to assessing any degree of academic success. Having raised children from nursery age to nearly University age in Los Alcázares, I can only speak from my own personal experience. That said there are many who would openly say that nothing is better, just different. Children are like sponges An expression that I think every adult has heard at some point or other. For every age group I can safely say that this is true to an extent. Your being non committal I can hear you say, yes I am because parents have a significant part to play in the learning process if you want any degree of academic success. The older the child, the greater the need to learn Spanish but the more cha

The Old Town Centre

Most tourists and residents overlook this part of town, compelled to tell you that all that it's a very magical place which has it's own charm and appeal. Well before the street behind the Mercadona took pole position as the hub for tourists it boasted an extremely high foot flow. The crisis was one factor that tried to seal it's fate and for many years it put up a very good fight in terms of commercial draw. Over the last few years three main commercial anchors have appeared. Elite Moda High street fashion which is affiliated to a chain in Spain and has a strong reputation for offering a good standard of service, competitive prices and of course quality. I have provided a link to their Facebook page which will give a better indication of the clothing range and accessories. Hotel Encarnacion You may have seen a few places on your trips around the world but nothing quiet like this. A listed and p
