TV

Watching TV is a little bit of sanctuary, those familiar faces that we identify with home presents a certain comfort zone that puts a smile on our face. I am not going to write about the obvious large dishes that we have become so used to seeing, more the new technology that has been made available.

Smart TV's have dropped in price over the last few years as watching TV has taken a much less conventional form on portable devices. Up to this point I never really appreciated the technology but the providers have, so today's post will show you a little bit about what is available to you.

FILMON

This used to be a free service but sadly not anymore. When you consider that you can watch all your favourites on your portable device it does suit the lifestyle here particularly as we all like a sitting outdoors.

You can stream live TV but for an extra charge, you can record all your favourites which turns it into an on demand service. It's a very user friendly application which I have to say is very flexible, turn on your TV go to the app and press it, the rest functions just like traditional TV.

HBO

A recent contender offering a free trial service for a month, I am currently testing it out and very impressed. Normally the application costs 7.99€ a month and like all the others can be switched off and you don't pay a penny when you don't want to use it anymore with no notice period. This is an important feature if you are only here in the Winter, it will also continue to work in the UK and abroad if you want to leave it on.

AMAZON PRIME

Best value for money at only 19€ a year with the added benefit of getting all your online purchases delivered for free. It's more of a catalogue than the latest stuff but thumbs up for value for money and flexibility. There is a free trial option so you can try before you buy.

NETFLIX

One of my personal favourites and a well established brand which seems to be growing worldwide. The bank of series and films are not all current but you can download anything and watch it offline. Ideal for when you are out and about, its a feature that you will appreciate the most as we are often caught short with nothing to do.

YOUTUBE

Last but far from least is the latest offering from one of the most iconic brands. Based on a pay as you go feature, you can simply select and watch. The main advantage here is the ability to watch on every device without a contract something that may prove valuable if you are here in Los Alcázares for a month and just want something to watch without the commitment.

With all these Apps you have no contract so starting and stopping is ideal. I personally combine all of them to provide ample channels to watch and in most cases on demand. You can plug your TV directly into your Laptop with an HD cable and you won't need a smart TV.

Shark!

I saw this video as it made the rounds online last year. A shark was filmed in the Port of Cartagena. There is no need to worry, it's extremely rare.

Murcia City

If you can't get to see Murcia City which is something we all should do at some point whether you live here or are just visiting, this is the next best thing. He did a good job of showing us around the streets and it's worth watching.

Looking Down

One of my friends has an interesting hobby; "Paramotor". I have had the pleasure of riding a dirtbike with him around the old mines in El Algar but I drew the line with this one. I hope you enjoy this video, it does show off the area really well.
