El Carmoli
Bali Meets The Mar Menor
Sounds like something out of a western and you could be led to believe that it has been. An extinct Volcano sitting on the coastal road not more than 8 Km away from Los Alcázares.
The area itself was once a military zone, sounds attractive right? With a runway an aircraft hanger and 11 hectares of protected environmental land it sets the scene for the feeling that your inland but your definitely not.
You approach the hanger at the end of the most wonderful coastal drive at a snails pace because everyone is busy taking in that special view we have all grown to love. The mountain has two immediate roads, one of them will take you up to the top of the mountain and the other along the side. In the middle of the mountain sits a Restaurant which I might add has been owned for over 35 years by the same owners. Of French origin it offers an international menu that suits all tastes.
Whether you live here or are just visiting, put it on your list of things to do as it won't disappoint. It offers a real family day out something which is so rare when your faced with portable devices getting in the way of spending time together.
The Restaurant
Offering a large external seating area to the front with ample parking it's ideal if you want to sip on a crushed ice drink and just watch the world go by. Inside there are 3 main areas, to the left as you enter is the inside seating area for the restaurant, to the right a Pizza area. Separating the two is a stair case leading to an outdoor bar styled in a Bali theme.
At the back of the restaurant is a banqueting hall used for weddings and Communions all year round.
I have to admit that it is very well lit at night and with it's own Batman sky light, you can't miss it. Once experienced you almost feel compelled to go back.
50 Shades Of Blue
Seated outside and looking over to your right, there will be a pathway that takes you up the mountain at the very end of the road. It's a dirt track so make sure that you are wearing the right foot wear. The track will reveal the military outhouses now standing covered in graffiti and will provide you with some great photography.
Looking straight from the outdoor seating are of the bar is a road that will take you to the top of the mountain. Amazing views and one of the only elevated positions on the Mar Menor. You won't be disappointed.
Remember I will write as long as you like so please like, share, post or just make some noise, thank you :-)
