A Different Perspective
The Ferry takes the route to the widest birth on the Mar Menor so the view point is very special as you will see the many scattered islands and of course the famous La Manga port. (Tomás Maestre)
The service starts from the 15th of June, and runs Monday's, Wednesday's, Friday's and Sunday's. Departure times are 10am, 12pm, 2pm, 5pm and 7pm. A one way ticket will set you back €5 and you can buy ticket on board. The journey time is 45 minutes and this initiative has been endorsed by regional government so it must meet health and safety regulations.
As our office is located behind Bar Alaska you can use the location pin to guide you here. As temperatures at this time of year can tip 35 degrees make sure you always have a bottle of water with you at all times.
Apart from the Ferry service, there are 2 other services that are noteworthy:
Service 1
The Grosa Island Route
This is a tour of an island called; Grosa island. You can't disembark as it's an environmentally protected area. The Ferry will take you towards the direction of the Med so that you can see the islands cliffs, caves and birds. It's well worth seeing and contributes to the ambience of this amazing area which offers such a striking balance between preservation and development.
The departure times are:
Tuesday at 10:30 am and is priced at 15€ per ticket. (Toilets available on board)
Thursday at 11:00 am and is priced at €13€ per ticket (Toilets are not available)*
There is some small print to say that the minimum occupancy is based on 20 so the departure time could be delayed until they get the correct numbers to depart. Make sure you take a hat to cover your heads and provide some protection for your head.
Service 2
Baron Island
The legend of Baron island is something that I would like to feature in a future post. You will pass it along with Redonda, Sujeto and Ciervo islands that are worth seeing.
Departure times are:
Tuesday and Thursday at 6pm, tickets are priced at 13€ a head and the tour lasts about 2 hours so it's a fairly long tour.
I hope you enjoyed reading this post, please remember to share or like and see you very soon.
